YONKERS, N.Y. - Ambassador Hanover and Ahundreddollarbill, both sent off at 1-9, did not disappoint in their respective $74,500 New York Sire Stakes events for 3-year-old colt and gelding trotters on Tuesday night (July 13) at Yonkers Raceway.

Coming off a runner-up finish in the MGM Yonkers Trot final back on July 2, Ambassador Hanover, driven by trainer Ake Svanstedt, went to the lead from post four, posted fractions of 28.3, 58.3, and 1:27.4, and sprinted a last quarter in 27.4 to win by 4 3/4 lengths in 1:55.3. Credit Con (Scott Zeron) got up for second after going first-over from third on the last turn, and Steel (Andy Miller) was third after a pocket trip. Sevenshadesofgrey (George Brennan) and Dee's Red Delicous (Corey Callahan) rounded out the order.

Svanstedt also co-owns Ambassador Hanover, a Chapter Seven colt, with partners Order By Stable, Howard Taylor, and Judith Taylor. Ambassador Hanover now has six wins from 12 career starts, and he has now earned $383,769. He returned $2.10 to win and place, the exacta was worth $3.90, and the trifecta kicked back $9.90.

In the other grouping, Incommunicado (Svanstedt) left quickly and made his way to the lead in the early stages, but Ahundreddollarbill (Andrew McCarthy) surged on the outside and grabbed command prior to the 28 second opening quarter. From there, Ahundreddollarbill kept the tempo lively with a 56.4 half and a 1:25 three-quarters, and he sailed home in 29 seconds to win in 1:54. Dewey Arnold (Jason Bartlett) out-kicked Incommunicado for second, Latin Lover (Matt Kakaley) was fourth, and Seven Nation Army (Mark MacDonald) checked in fifth.

The time of 1:54 lowered Ahundreddollarbill's own track record for a 3-year-old trotting gelding of 1:54.2 set last month when he won his MGM Yonkers Trot elimination.

Ahundreddollarbill is a Chapter Seven gelding trained by Tony Alagna for owners Crawford Farms Racing and James Crawford IV. Ahundreddollarbill has compiled a record of 7-1-0 from 12 lifetime appearances, and he has now banked $303,557. He also paid $2.10 to win and place and was atop a $4.10 exacta and an $8.00 trifecta.

Beantown Madness (1:58.2), a Conway Hall half-brother to $4.29 million winner Arch Madness, and Seventier (1:56.1), a gelded son of Chapter Seven, took the two $15,000 New York Excelsior A Series races that were held on the undercard. Beantown Madness was driven by Jason Bartlett for owner/breeder Michael Goldberg and trainer George Ducharme, and trainer Trond Smedshammer also piloted Seventier for owner Purple Haze Stables LLC.

There was also one $6,500 New York Excelsior B Series dash contested, and it was won by King Jimmy from off-the-pace in 2:00.3. Jordan Stratton steered the RC Royalty gelding for trainer Robert Dill and owner Anthony Mazzeo.

New York Sire Stakes action at Yonkers resumes on Thursday night (July 15) with three flights for sophomore pacing fillies. Post time is 7:15 p.m.

CORRECTION - IMPORTANT UPDATE: We are pleased to report that the SOA of New York and MGM Yonkers have agreed to a one-month extension of the current Horsemen's Agreement that was to expire on June 30th. This will allow the parties the time necessary to negotiate a comprehensive, long-term Horsemen's Agreement. The Gaming Commission, which has the sole power to award race dates, has not awarded race dates for July as of this time. An earlier post had incorrectly indicated that race dates had been awarded.
