Tuesday Empire Report
The Empire Report – Tuesday, May 28, 2024 – Race Analysis
RACE 1 – (7) POINTOMYGRANSON is just in raging form right now, taking three straight in very easy fashion,
despite the outside draws – he has to get top billing, but there IS at least a chance he could be used harder tonight to
make the front...which could at least leave him a bit vulnerable as the odds-on choice. (3) REIGNING DEO paced a
HUGE final 3/8ths after recovering from a miscue 2 back, and absolutely roared home for 2nd to the top choice in his
last – not a bad one to consider here. (5) ROCK DIAMONDS N is a very solid player at this level and has the speed
to create a trip for himself – another with a chance should the top one falter, (1) JIMMY CONNOR B generally does
his best work with easier but he was actually a pretty good 4th last week, and another easy trip could help him land a
piece tonight. (2) CAVIART SARGENT is always a big price, and does rally for pieces off easy trips – not a bad
bomb for the bottom of exotics. (4) QUALITY BUD can usually finish well when not used hard but may be coming
from a tough spot. (6) HOWARD HUGHES N squandered a live trip in last, and faces a much tougher journey here.
RACE 2 – (2) SNAP COUNT is the reluctant choice – he was very good when 3rd in his first local start but did
disappoint a bit when 2nd best in his next – not sure why he faltered (at a short price) at PcD last week but he does
figure to be pretty tough in this fairly blank, short field. (5) MONEY EXCHANGE had a couple of decent tries here
at the end of his 2YO season – he’s been slow to come around so far at 3, but this may be a field where he can show
more life. (4) YANKEE CLOUT went a game first over try last week, only to get run down late by a shipper that
paced over the field in the stretch – he’s a very logical threat here, but note that he’s just 1 for 46 lifetime, and will
have to leave this class after he wins another. (3) STONEBRIDGE PATROL has yet to threaten in 3 career starts, all
at big prices – one of several Bartlett horses that will have Dexter Dunn filling in tonight. (1) CHIP IN BLUE may
have some ability but he made breaks in both career starts so far – prefer to see a clean mile before endorsing.
RACE 3 – (2) ON THE MONEY GB dropped out of the 50s twice recently and scored at big prices both times –
she’ll probably be a good price once again (despite those wins), and maybe she can pick up another in this well
matched field. (1) TERACITA came into her last off a pair of wins followed by three 2nds...but just didn’t fire at all
– seems like a good sign that she drops right back in the box, and perhaps she can shrug off that clunker and be a big
player tonight...at a fair price. (3) SAUBLE DELIGHTFUL came into her last riding a 3 race winning streak but
was worn down by the top choice and weakened to 3rd – more than eligible to rebound for a barn that has been on
fire for months, at multiple venues. (6) CALLMEQUEENBEE A has been racing well for months, and has hit board
in 5 straight starts – new barn tonight, but a good price makes her worth at least a look. (5) LARJON LEAH also
goes for a new crew here, and on the heels of last week’s sharp front end score – we’ll see if she can be as effective
one level up. (4) REAL LADY SADIE came up a little flat late last week as she tried the 25s for the first time
(ending her own 4 race winning streak) – she may just be more comfortable in a little easier.
RACE 4 – (1) PRINCESS ARONA was razor sharp when claimed on 4/16 but then threw 3 duds for her new
connections – she suddenly bounced back in her last, however, an excellent 2nd best (and beating the others by many)
– anything close to that mile would be more than enough to handle these. (6) ROLL WITH SHORTY was a
jogburger winner last week and now has 3 wins and 2 seconds from her last 6 starts (mired in traffic in the other) –
solid chance to be on the ticket somewhere, despite the poor draw. (4) EVAS SPORTS CZECH was unable to get in
play from the back last week but has 3 recent victories on her resume – could easily bounce back tonight and make
some noise. (2) SHEIKH YABOOTY N hasn’t been on her game lightly but an easy trip from this spot could help
her grab a share. (7) BLUEBIRD GRAF landed on a pocket trip in a very weak field last week and was able to get
up for the win – seems unlikely to be able to work out that kind of perfect trip from THIS spot, however. (3) ITTY
BITTY somehow gets WAY overbet every week despite never really coming up with a big one– still leaning towards
others. (8) CHRISS CHOICE was no threat in her first start of the year and draws Post 8 tonight. (5) CAVIART SA
BRINA was beaten by 23 lengths (with no mishap) in her local debut.
RACE 5 – Good race! (8) PURE SILKY won her last 2 starts in late march before being forced to the sidelines for a
while – she re-qualified, and was an excellent 3rd last week (in her first start back) – she’ll need some major racing
luck, but she may be worth a stab tonight (from Post 8) assuming the price is pretty juicy. (1) ELISES DELIGHT hit
the skids for a few starts but recently bounced back, and was good in her last 3 miles – a good trip can make her a
player once more. (5) HONEY LOVE hit board in all 4 local starts this year and now drops in for a tag – should fit
nicely here, with a chance to be part of the equation. (2) PARADISE ROCK L has 4 victories this year and her
overall Yonkers record is a strong 21-7-2-8) – possibility, for sure. (3) LA BELLA VITA was well backed last week,
hit the top and was able to go wire to wire – she has 4 wins in this class, and remains a solid weekly threat. (6) ONE
DERFULBEACH has some recent excuses, and did pick up a win 4 back – would consider if the price creeps up
high enough. (4) BADDITUDE has missed 3 weeks (after a sick scratch) and catches a very solid field tonight –
feels like a tough assignment. (7) COMMANDER CATHY N will have a hard time reaching from out here.
RACE 6 – (7) VICI has been rock solid in almost every start this year, despite having only one win (14-1-6-4) – this
field feels a bit easier than many of the one’s he’s faced, so perhaps it’s an opportunity to get back to the winner’s
circle. (3) STATESIDE DEUCE GB feels like he’s fallen a bit off form, but he’s another that could appreciate
tonight’s somewhat softer field – could perk up with a much sharper mile here. (2) WATCH YOUR SIX seems like
he may be on the cheaper side (based on his Ohio lines) but he debuts for our leading barn tonight and that has
resulted in some major form improvements over the past year or so – getting Dunn in the bike surely won’t hurt
either. (4) RAYRAY wasn’t bad in his last pair and could be a decent value horse for the bottom of exotics. (1) KID
FROM THE BRONX was handled very aggressively in his first 2 starts as a 4YO and came up short both times – he
could be tighter now, and maybe an EASIER trip (starting from the pole) could help him be stronger at the end. (6)
CHOOSE CAREFULLY was an ok 4th last week, making his 2nd start of the year – the tough draw could hurt his
chances to improve, however. (8) JK BLACK GOLD ships in for very live connections off a win at Hoosier but he’s
just 4 for 44 lifetime, and lands all the way outside for his local debut – leaning elsewhere. (5) OHOKA LE BRON
N has some speed/ability but has been his own worst enemy since arriving in the U.S. – still a work in progress.
RACE 7 – (2) PLEASURE SEEKER dropped back down to 20s and delivered a sharp front end score last week (her
prior 2 starts at this level produced a win and a 2nd) – she stays in the same class, draws inside her main rivals, and
gets top billing as a result. (4) ALWAYS B MIMI didn’t bring her best last week but was still 4th after a less than
stellar trip – she was reclaimed by a barn that did well with her, and she’s always a threat when on her game. (6)
SWEET ALI LOU was an improved 2nd in her 2nd local start and wasn’t bad last week either (just in a no-chance
spot) – she’s listed at 20-1 ML, and would certainly be worth using if anything close to that price. (5) CHARMING
VIXEN picked up a couple of wins here earlier in the year and ships back in pretty solid form – could easily be part
of the equation. (7) JUST ROSAS LUCK was clear too late last week but did have pace finishing – would have been
listed a bit higher if not for the terrible draw. (1) AINTNOHOLLABACKGRL has struggled most of the year but
she gets her first good post in weeks and that may help her at least contend for a piece. (8) UNITY is one of several
from the barn that raced well in their first starts back off the brief vacation – tonight’s draw may leave her waiting
for a better spot, however. (3) SUNSET SOPH generally can grab some minor scraps when the trip is easy enough.
RACE 8 – Tough race! (1) KOMODO BEACH was caught first over into a sharp 3/4s last week but held very well
to be a close 3rd– he can be unpredictable at times but he could be a major player here if on his best game, especially
if he works out an easier trip from the pole. (6) THIS IS THE PLAN followed up that win at Chester 2 back with a
game try here at Yonkers last week, fending off #1 before getting run down late by #8 – the mega-classy 9YO is
feeling pretty good right now, making him a dangerous player. (4) KINGSVILLE was knocking on the door for 3
weeks before breaking through with last week’s sharp front end score – he’s up in class now (while losing Brennan),
but still can make some noise with the right trip. (8) VENTURESOME ARDEN N looked to be up against it on the
final turn last week but he found another gear into the lane and just exploded home late to roll by #6 – that made it 3
wins from his last 4 starts, and he has to be respected tonight...even from Post 8.(3) JUST BET IT ALL is also
moving up a notch while in fine form – as is the case with several of these, it’ll all boil down to trip. (2)
WALKINSHAW N was stuck in stretch traffic last week but definitely had pace – may need to be in a bit easier to
threaten for the top spot, however. (5) BURNHAM BOY N has been holding his own in good fields for some time,
picking up a bunch of smaller pieces– may have to settle for a smaller slice tonight, as well. (7) SANTANA
HANOVER was outfinished despite the pocket trip last week and now has to contend with Post 7 in a solid field.
RACE 9 – (6) DANDYS SHOWTIME still hasn’t won here (for our leading barn) but she’s raced well enough in a
few of her recent losses to at least have a chance against this group – if Dunn can hustle her away to a good start, she
may have a shot to pick up that first local victory. (1) PINK RUBY has 3 wins here this year and that’s more than the
rest of the field COMBINED – rebounded with a better try last week (after a major clunker the week before), and
she looms the one to beat from the pole. (3) JAVA has always been a “quirky” horse, going on and off the bit at
different points in the mile – she does have a little ability, and she has at least a chance at an upset...if the top ones
fail to perform. (8) BROOKDALE JESSIE hadn’t won a race in ages...until coming out on top three back in a
division of the Italian American Friendship Pace – she raced very well in 2 starts after that, but faces a very tall
order starting from Post 8. (7) EILEENS WISH was able to pick up a 2nd at 25-1 last week but that was after getting
away in the pocket from Post 2 – could be looking at a much tougher journey tonight. (5) TUAPEKA JESSIE N
may wake up one of these weeks, but there’s no real signs that it’ll be tonight. (4) ACEFOURTYFOUR ALEX
hasn’t gotten any better after 11 starts this year. (2) ROCKFORD PEACH seems on the cheap side (arriving from
out of town).
RACE 10 – (3) ULTIMAROCA is a streaky sort and his last 2 have been excellent (after a few duds prior to that) –
we’ll give him the narrow edge to make it 2 in a row in a race that could become very contentious. (1) DEETZY
hasn’t been the winning machine he was last year but he’s been 2nd in his last 3 starts, and could be looking at a very
good trip tonight – belongs in exotics. (6) GREG THE LEG seems to land on a tough trip every week but he’s still
managed to hit board in his last 4 starts – very capable here if he can find a decent journey, but that may be tough
from Post 6. (7) SEMI TOUGH was able to make the lead from Post 8 last week then somehow fought off intense
pressure and was able to hang on for the win – the class jump isn’t nearly as concerning as the possibility of a really
tough trip tonight. (8) HUNTERS HERO is having a solid year and comes off a nice win in his last...he also has to
face older horses tonight while moving from the rail to Post 8...and that’s a lot to overcome. (4) GROOVY JOE beat
this class twice in his last 7 starts but this is probably a tougher overall field, and he may have to settle for a smaller
share. (5) VENIER HANOVER hasn’t been bad, but he seems destined to be fighting for just minor scraps again. (2)
DONTLIKEITLEAVE would be a surprise, even with the move inside.
RACE 11 – Good race: (2) HEZ ALLTHE RAGE N was clean gaited and well-mannered last week and that
allowed him to deliver the sharp front end score – he may be able to use his post advantage to handle this group too.
(4) MIKITEEN responded to the barn change last week, scoring the “pocket rocket” victory – another good trip
would give him a chance to take another. (7) SAVE AMERICA worked out a beautiful trip in his local debut but just
didn’t have enough at the end and had to settle for 3rd – chance to be right there again, even with the bad draw. (6)
SINBAD N is finally starting to hit on all cylinders, and is racing well every week – he may end up too far back,
though, negating his good late kick somewhat. (5) RENAISSANCE DEO saw his 4 race winning streak snapped last
week when stepping up in class, collared by the trip-sitting MIKITEEN – we’ll see if he can elevate his game a bit
more and be a player in this even tougher field. (1) LOVERS TROUBLE sat last most of the way in his YR debut
(new barn) but knew what to do when called upon, sweeping wide around the stacked up field and rallying by them
all into the lane – this is a much better group, and it’s hard to say if he can be as effective. (3) MIDNIGHT NATION
enjoyed a beautiful trip last week but lacked the late pop to fully capitalize – will need to be sharper for a chance to
beat these. (8) SILKEN SWEET draws all the way outside making his 3YO return – good week to just observe.
