Tuesday Empire Report
The Empire Report - Tuesday, October 4, 2022 - Race Analysis
RACE 1 - (3) FIZZING N has been facing much better recently and really hasn't been embarrassing
himself - drops to a winning level now, and also gets major post relief....we'll hop on board in tonight's
opener. (4) KAUAI KING has been pretty consistent lately and it feels like he's ready to win one....that
being said, it would be hard to endorse him on top at a short price when he's 0 for 22 here at Yonkers. (1)
ROCKIN JUK EBOX has definitely been having some rough times but he moves all the way inside and it's
reasonable to look for a more competitive effort from this spot - willing to include in exotics. (7)
AINTNOBETTOR A throws a good one every now and then and that was certainly the case last week -
he'll be a pretty good price here, and perhaps he can find another good try tonight...good bomb to throw in
underneath. (5) SOHO CHELSEAA was recently claimed for $40K but hasn't clicked at all so far for his
new connections - would want a pretty good price to consider him tonight. (6) TIGER BARON has a good
history here but he seems to have lost a step or two this year, and his recent upstate lines are pretty mixed -
rough draw for Hilltop return isn't going to help. (2) PERSIMMON A hasn't made a lot of starts the last 2
years and his recent NJ form isn't all that encouraging - leaning to others. (8) MY MIND IS MADEUP
hasn't been benefiting from the recent class drops so far, and gets stuck behind the 8 ball for tonight.
RACE 2 - (4) PYRO was just "good" when 3rd from the pocket last week but his overall recent form (in
PA) is better than that, and he's beaten better than these many times in the past - willing to give him another
chance here. (1) ALWAYS AND AGAIN threw a rare dud two back but rebounded immediately, scoring
the sharp wire to wire win last week (vs. a bit easier) - more than capable of taking another, but that 6/5 ML
price will likely result in him being overbet tonight. (5) SETH HANOVER had no chance from Post 8 two
back but has otherwise been in career form for weeks - the big concern here is that he may land on a tough
trip (with sharp rivals to his inside), but he's still worth considering if the price is good enough (3) GENIUS
MAN failed to get in play the last couple of weeks but he can grab pieces even at this tough level when
things go his way - good one to use for 3rd/4th. (6) PEACE OUT POSSE is sharp enough right now to be a
player with these but he's another that will be at a disadvantage because of the draw - can rally for a piece if
the right trip comes his way. (2) FOREVER FAV draws well enough for a chance to save ground and rally
for a minor share - at 20-1 ML, willing to throw in for 3rd/4th. (7) ULTIMAROCA was compromised by
Post 7 last week and now draws the same terrible post tonight - has very limited options once more.
RACE 3 - (1) ROCKYTOP OH OH was 2 for 4 as a 2YO in Kentucky and off to an 8-5-1-0 start this year,
showing quick miles when racing over the bigger ovals - qualified nicely (on Lasix) with his trainer on
board, and we'll give him the narrow edge over the other high profile shipper arriving for tonight's race. (3)
ODDS ON OVERDRAFT is the latest midwest acquisition for our leading barn and like virtually every
new addition before him, has been identified as a bleeder and will debut on Lasix - he exits a very sharp
barn, but he can still be expected to show quick improvement for his new team - the main danger. (2)
BETTOR ROLL ON A has two nice looking qualifiers since arriving from Australia but catches a couple
of rivals tonight that MAY be a little tough to handle - certainly the other one to consider if not a fan of the
top pair. (5) TREVORS HUNT has been racing well up at Monti, though likely vs. cheaper - still, one to
throw in for 3rd in his current form. (4) WHISKY BREAK didn't function in his local debut but was still
sent off at 5/2 the next week - showed a bit of improvement, and we'll see if he can continue to go forward
tonight. (7) VARNEY used a quick start last week to earn a two hole trip, and was close until the winner
kicked away from him in the lane - just not sure if he can get off to such a good start tonight with the move
outside. (6) DOUBLE DOUBLE is one of the rare horses from this barn that has struggled for any length of
time - needs to show more before meriting consideration. (8) BEST BETTOR is 12-0-0-0 here at Yonkers.
RACE 4 - (1) SHEIKH YABOOTY N raced very well the last 2X she was up close to the pace and she
should be able to have that kind of trip tonight - one of a few possible winners in here, and the price should
be pretty fair. (2) ACEFOURTYFOUR ALEX is in the midst of a very nice form spree, and just barely
missed beating these last week - may be able to get her picture taken tonight. (3) LAURIE LEE was
hammered at the windows last week despite some pretty ordinary recent form and the public got it right, as
she was able to just hold of #2 for the victory - would certainly be no surprise if she was able to repeat, but
she does figure to be a pretty short price. (8) CHUPPAH ON is the "x factor" tonight - drops down to the
50s after a couple of sub par efforts, and it's hard to know if a wheel has fallen off, or if her connections are
just looking to steal a win - very tough call! (7) ENGLISH ROSE N finished alertly last week off a ground
saving trip and would have a chance at a minor share if able to work out another easy journey - very tough
spot, though. (4) HP XANADU has gone in the wrong direction after a brief stay here in our leading barn -
waiting for better signs before hopping back on her team. (6) DIAMONDTOOTHGERTIE found her form
in PA but reverted to her lesser efforts after returning to YR last week - we'll see if the switch to Bartlett
can perk up a bit. (5) LARJON LEAH is having a rough 2022 season, and has missed nearly a month.
RACE 5 - (1) MACS MARVEL has struggled a bit in his stakes efforts but he's very solid against these
overnight types - gets to control the action from the pole, and he looms the one to beat in his YR debut. (3)
EXOTIC SAND got lost at the back last week but has otherwise been rock solid in all his recent starts -
moves inside, gets the hot Holland on board and could be the main danger. (5) SPORTS ADVISOR shows
a mixed bag of Canadian efforts and lands in one of our top barns for his local debut - should fit well here,
and is worth a look if the price is decent. (4) LOUS BEACH is just 1 for 14 this year but does have a bunch
of 2nds and 3rds - chance for a small piece tonight too. (7) PAST DUE doesn't look all that appealing on
paper but he moves to a barn that has been known to improve these types - bad post and bad date make it
hard to like him THIS week, however. (8) COLD CREEK FELIPE is a proven player with these types but
faces a potentially rough journey from Post 8 - would consider for a piece if the price is long enough. (2)
SHARKY BEAR beat a NW2 field here 4 back but has struggled since moving up in class. (6) GUSSYS
TRUMP CARD has also struggled since exiting the NW2 ranks.
RACE 6 - (6) MYSWEETBOYMAX gave it a big go from Post 8 in his last local try - he finished 4th, but
might have been a lot closer to winning had he found room in the stretch - he gets Bartlett to hop off a fresh
horse for his main barn to drive him tonight (#8), and we'll hop on board too. (2) PICARD is one of a few
horses from this barn to really wake up with a big mile (and win) last week - may prove to be the main
danger if he can bring another sharp mile tonight. (3) MOHAWK WARRIOR beat cheaper at Fhd. 3 back
and his last couple of local starts were pretty good too (from tough spots) - include him in your exotics. (1)
MCCLINCHIE N moves up in class but he's sharp and he draw the pole - another that could easily land
somewhere on the ticket. (4) VIRGIN STORM is winless here this year and tends to disappoint frequently -
maybe can squeeze out a minor piece tonight? (7) WARDAN EXPRESS A has some solid out of town form
lately but he's 12-0-1-1 at YR this year - tough to really like his chances from Post 7. (8) FULLBACK
would normally get a long look moving to a barn that wins with about half of their new horses -- but he
draws Post 8 and will have his trainer driving this week - sticking with others tonight. (5) NOCH TEN was
able to beat the bottom class in his first local try but struggled badly in his next pair - pass for now.
RACE 7 - (5) MORNING HAS BROKEN definitely isn't on her absolute best game right now but it's not
like she's "bad", either - she gets class relief for tonight, and it's not a bad week to give her a shot in a race
with several live players. (1) LADY DELA RENTAA was a short-priced front end winner last week but
some of her recent LOSING efforts have probably been even better - hard to leave her off your tickets from
this spot. (2) MILLWOOD BONNIE N has been pretty consistent most recent weeks and got her picture
taken 2 back - goes for a new barn tonight, and is a logical threat from this spot - will likely come down to
trip. (7) JOSSIE JAMES A just missed on 9/6 then took advantage of a beautiful trip to pick up the win on
9/20 (over a very hard used LADY DELA RENTAA) - tough post tonight, and was also scratched sick
from her last. (6) VELOCITY MCSWEETS has been very consistent for weeks, but she draws a tough post
after missing 3 weeks and may have to settle for a smaller share tonight. (4) AHOY has tried different trips
but just hasn't been able to put together an effort lately where she can threaten for a top prize - needs to be
sharper. (3) ASHTINI would probably look a lot better with some class relief - leaning towards others. (8)
CAVIART CHERIE finally picked up her first local win of the year on 9/6 but was scratched injured from
her next, then trailed all the way from Post 8 in the following start - another 8 hole tonight.
RACE 8 - (2) MAJOR FERNCO N has 4 starts since arriving in the U.S. and he's climbed the class ladder
rapidly, winning 3X and just missing when 4th in the other - he faces a few rivals with some question
marks in his local debut, and we'll give him a narrow edge in a tough race to predict. (3) LOUS SWEETRE
VENGE hasn't been a threat lately (and his barn has cooled off as well), but he'll be closer to the action
tonight and this could be a spot where he can wake up at a nice price - worth a look? (7) HELLABALOU
was a big earner at 3 and finally started to match that form at 4 this summer (including 2 wins from 2 starts
here at Yonkers) - he took 3 weeks off after a couple of duds against better in PA, and it's hard to say how
serious he'll be from Post 7 tonight - perhaps the tote board will offer some clues? (5) WINDSUN RICKY
would surely be more comfortable in a bit easier but he's very sharp right now, and his barn has been
sending out live ones - he has the hot longshot pilot on board, and isn't a bad one to consider if shopping for
a price here. (1) TOWN GOSSIP was a sharp front end winner 2 back but never looked good from the start
last week - hard to know which version we'll see tonight. (4) SAVE ME A DANCE was terrible two back -
wouldn't say his last was "good", but at least it was better....we'll see what he brings tonight (6) WESTERN
JOE hasn't been bad, but he's been too sluggish early on in recent races - that could be a problem from this
spot.
RACE 9 - (6) BETTER B SWIFT had plenty of pace into the stretch last week but just no room to roam -
will need some trip luck tonight, but not a bad value play in a race with no standouts. (4) DARLINGS
DRAGON has done damage against these types in the past, and appears ready to roll after a brief
freshening - very dangerous if he can somehow make the top in here. (7) SOUTHWIND MOROCCAN is
sharp right now for a barn that suddenly came to life recently - wouldn't let him beat you at a big price. (1)
IM A POWERPLAY A seems to disappoint more often than he delivers, but his best effort would at least
give him a shot from this spot - would need a pretty good price to consider him. however. (2) LUC ROCKS
won at this level in early August but has been pretty ordinary since then - really not worth a short price in a
race with some interesting longshots. (5) ROCKINMYSHOE was no factor in his local debut - not ready to
write him off after just one start, but not ready to endorse him, either. (3) STANFORD COURT is another
that just hasn't been close to his best in a long time - a form reversal would be needed to make him a threat
here. (8) HAPPY TRIO had to requalify after a pair of sick scratches - would be a threat on his best, but it
would be hard to like his chances tonight.
